What is Extruded Fin Pipes?

For simple understanding, the extruded fin pipe is formed from an outer aluminum tube with a bigger tube wall thickness, which is alighed over an inner small base tube.

The two tubes are combined, so also named composited finned tube. The combined two tubes are pushed through three sets arbors with rotating discs that literally squeeze or extruded the aluminum fins up and out of the muff material in a spiral shape in one operation.

After extruding finning process, moving the fin at controlled length and make the base tube be fully naked or part naked with sleeve according to drawing. Then wash the oil on fin/tube surface and Inside water jetting cleaning.

When dry enough, package will be done. Usually for extruded fin pipes, we package them in wooden case with water-proof paper or film wrapped and sometimes we may put some desiccant inside.

We totally have 24 production lines for extruded fin pipes, daily capacity is 10000 meters maximum length we can reach is 18 meters.

According to different media flow inside the tube, the core tube material can be carbon steel tube (seamless and welded), stainless steel tube (seamless and welded), copper tube, titanium, aluminum alloy, etc.

The fin material for extruded fin pipes can be Al3003, Al1050, Al1060, Al1100 and Al6063.

The aluminum-rolled extruded fin pipes produced by our factory are all smooth and clean, free of burrs.

Since the coefficient of linear expansion of aluminum is about twice that of carbon steel, a gap resistance between the tube and the fin material develops. As the operating temperature increases, the difference in the coefficient of expansion increases and so does the resulting gap resistance. Thus, maximum operating temperatures which depend on the type of bond between the tube and the fin, have been established. These are specified for the various types of finned tubes in the following discussions.

The standard tube OD is in although 1 1/4’’ , 11/2’’ and even 2’’. Diameters are employed in cases where the allowable tubeside pressure drop does not permit the use of 1’’ OD tubes. The standard fin heights are 3/8’’ 1/2’’ and 5/8’’, with the latter two being far more popular.

Comparing with other aluminum high fin tubes, properties of Extruded Fin Tubes (Bimetallic Fin Tube) are as follows:

Manufacturing Process: Cold Extrusion

Fin to tube Bond: Excellent

Heat Transfer Efficiency: Excellent

Mechanical Resistance: Excellent (Hence can be frequently cleaned with high pressure jets unlike other fin tubes. Thereby reducing down time and increasing overall life)

Corrosion Protection: Gives excellent corrosion protection to the base tube since it entirely covers the base tube (except bare ends)

Temperature Range: Up to Maximum 300°C
